Land uses - CLC18

The projectCORINE (Coordination of Information on the Environment) Land Cover,Also known by the acronym CLC, it is a thematic mapping of land cover and use in the European Union produced from the photo-interpretation of satellite images (remote sensors). The project is directed by the European Environment Agency (EEA for its English acronym) and began in 1987. Its objective is to facilitate decision-making in terms of territorial policy. Group the uses of the soil at 3 different levels. The first of them distinguishes between artificial surfaces (1XX), agricultural areas (2XX), forest and wooded areas (3XX), wetlands (4XX) and bodies of water ( 5XX).

In the hydrographic basin of the Miño The groups of Forest and Wooded Areas (3XX) and Agricultural Areas (2XX) especially stand out.

The most abundant class, with almost 24% of the total, is 322-Heathland and scrub, followed by 311-Hardwood forest with 22%. These classes are followed by 242-Crop Mosaics (15.1%), 312-Coniferous Forests (8.4%), 324-Transitional Wooded Scrub (8%), 243 -Agricultural land, with areas of natural vegetation (6.4%), 313-Mixed forest (4.5%) and 321-Natural grasslands (3.3%).
